Matt Good's New Album

Matt Good has released his 5th solo album and it's called "Vancouver". I bought it on itunes. I still buy all his albums instead of downloading because I want to support him....almost more than any other artist. I've seen him live more than any other artists (minus Hedley....but that is a WAY different ball game). Maybe it's because he's a local, maybe it's because he has been through some serious mental issues, maybe it's just because I love his music. It's probably all of the above actually. People still say he's an ass....maybe he is, but I'll still defend him til the cows come home. For instance, let's go back to ACF for a moment. He walked off stage at one point during his set and people thought he was a total spazz and an ass and yada yada. Well, I think I would have walked off stage if a wrench had been thrown in my direction. JUST sayin.... Still don't have a rating for his album yet...need to listen to it some more. So far, I'd say it's definitely solo Matt. Has his solo sound. The first track, Last Parade, reminds me a bit of Pledge of Allegiance. Just a bit. Here it is:

Alright, well that is all for now on Matt Good. I love him and for me he can do no wrong.
I will leave you with one last thing.
There is a song on his album callled "The Vancouver National Anthem". Lyrics:

Out of the alleys
Are needle-strewn fields
Into the sunlight
The brochures reveal
Like snakes come for rabbits
And rabbits for meals
Where the ore and the axe flies

Well this is our story (stick too it!)
But it ain't the truth
Cuz the truth's just for liars
That need an excuse
Around here love's a gangster
And charity's the brute
Where God deals on Sundays
Under a brain burning roof

It's 5 blocks of universe
And aliens for reach [??]
Like invisible ghettos
Of privelege and grief
And we end up between them
The carrion flies
Living off skeletons
Recycled lies

This is the place we find out
Well this is the way we find out

We all live downtown
Pay $1250, no parking
Live with a clown
Step over ourselves
We all live downtown

Paying blood, no parking
Sleep on the ground
Step over ourselves
We all live downtown
We all die downtown
Step over ourselves (over ourselves)
Step over ourselves

Well this is our story (stick to it!)
But it ain't the truth
Cuz the truth's just for liars
That need an excuse
For a King crowned a banker
The Queen crowned a noose
Like heirs to a graveyard
Where the dirt's always loose

It's 5 blocks of universe
And aliens for reach [??]
Like invisible ghettos
Of privelege and grief
And we end up between them
The carrion flies
Picking on skeletons
Under a big northern sky

This is the place you find out
Yeah this is the way you find out

We all live downtown
We all die downtown
Step over ourselves
